This page has not been substantially updated in five years. It was to be the beginning of a published activities list so long it's frightening. Some of these projects are now underway; others are in the planning stages; some are dormant. If any of these interest you, let us know and we'll keep you posted--or collaborate--as appropriate. E-mail us at Landmark@Landmark.org.
Events Calendar. We've posted a list of hundreds of events on an experimental basis to gauge interest. Though it's not fully interactive, it is in a data base format, which is more than even the Washington Post can claim for its online calendar. With some encouragement and some funding, we'd like to build this into the biggest publicly-accessible calendar of its kind.
Photographing for the Web: Investigation of the best/most cost-effective ways to put photos on these pages. We're looking at video capture, color and gray-scale scanners, Photo CD, Seattle Film Works processing, and others. Check out our picture test page with some videographics we haven't yet utilized. (Note: Some heavy graphics on these pages.)
We'll also be exploring Publishing movies and interactive video on the Web. And we're tracking VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) as it comes into the mainstream.
HTML authoring forum: Let's learn this language together. It's easy, it's flexible, it helps us communicate across the Web. HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is a basic tool for anyone projecting information into the ether. For some chatter on Web authoring, visit our E-mail Echo. This page was written in Word for Windows 6.0 and marked up with Jill Swift's ANT_PLUS shareware HTML engine. Thanks, Jill, for your excellent, elegant ANT toolbar.
The Open Network project: An inquiry into opening the eye, the mind, and the heart to outside scrutiny. Discussion of software that could help us learn about each other--and ourselves--through a growing pseudo-neural net. While we're waiting for Open Network to arrive, we'll be pinning up (initially on a password-restricted or time-limited page) a collection of sights, thoughts, and emotions backed by pictures, sounds, and multimedia events. This could be a future Cool Site on the Web. Watch for it!
The Landmark Channel project: Development of an interactive cable home page. To be coded first in HTML, then in Visual Basic, then put on videotape with overlaid live video. Don't believe it? Stick around.
Sample Web Page ads. We're prototyping Web Pages for some existing clients and some would-be clients. We hope to give you an advance look soon so we can get your feedback. While we're building up our page-writing service, current Landmark clients may qualify for their own free place on the Web just for reading this! It's a limited-time offer. Apply now via E-mail.
The Oric project: Discussion of software agents: form factors, user interfaces, etc. Please don't confuse Oric with Bob. Bob is well funded; Oric is charming and smart.
A continuing search for interested parties to help prototype ideas of interest.
Bud's personal pages: Info and pictures on family, friends, interests, impressions, a multimedia journal, and possibly some hot links (or cool links, as you prefer). There will be other special-interest pages soon. E-mail Bud and ask for a URL if so inclined.
